The mission of the Somali Community Center of Maine is to assist refugees and Immigrants through the difficult journey of adjusting to life in their new community.
The SCCM seeks to engage with civic society, government entities and businesses to promote self-sufficiency for the refugees and immigrant communities.
In collaboration with other community resources, the SCCM will work to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers and promote employment opportunities and educational achievements.
The Somali Community Center of Maine is dedicated to supporting Maine’s Somali-American community through advocacy, mentorship, youth activities, and civic engagement. The SCCM seeks to help Somali-American residents of Greater Portland, Maine to achieve economic opportunity, educational achievement and social integration into U.S. society. Our staff members are all volunteers from the Somali community of Greater Portland and area. These accomplished professionals give the valuable time to help enrich the lives of Somali American compatriots in greater Portland area.
