The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and police departments in Maine will be working together throughout the summer to pull over speeding drivers.
The public should expect an increased police presence on the roads looking for speeding drivers.
If stopped by the police while driving, pull your car over to the side of the road. As the police officer approaches, keep both hands on the steering wheel; avoid any quick and sudden movements; answer any questions that the officer asks you, and follow their instructions.

“Our sole purpose is to save lives and raise awareness about the importance of always going the speed limit… speeding … can have deadly consequences for the driver, vehicle passenger, and pedestrians.”
Lauren V. Stewart, Director of Maine Bureau of Highway Safety
