A beautiful day at the farm

This past summer, women from In Her Presence spent some healthy outdoor time enjoying each other’s company and raising vegetables at a farm in Falmouth owned by Cultivating Community. The project was created both to help women from the In Her Kitchen senior class emerge from the isolation of the pandemic and learn gardening skills. Together the women planted, tended, and eventually harvested the crops in August and September. The vegetables were shared amongst community members and included amaranth, a staple food in many parts of Africa. In Her Presence is a nonprofit that was co-founded by Micky Abusana Bondo and Claudette Ndayininahaze. The nonprofit’s mission is to empower immigrant women and families.
