Update from Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP)
In response to the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus, all Immigration Court hearings between now and January 31, 2022, will automatically be rescheduled for individuals who are NOT DETAINED and who DO NOT HAVE A LAWYER REPRESENTING THEM IN IMMIGRATION COURT.
If this is your situation, your hearing will NOT go forward. The Immigration Court will mail you a notice of your new hearing date. If the court does not have your current address, you must update it using form EOIR-33. Instructions can be found here. https://ilapmaine.org/self-help-guides#IC.
You can also call the Immigration Court or check the Immigration Court system online to find out the date of your new hearing. Instructions can be found here: https://ilapmaine.org/self-help-guides#Call.
Additional information from the Immigration Court on this new announcement can be found here https://www.justice.gov/eoir-operational-status.
Hearings for individuals who are in detention, or who do have a lawyer representing them in immigration court, will take place as planned.
