The Gulf of Maine Research Institute has created multilingual local seafood guides to help demystify Maine seafood for people from other parts of the world who have resettled in Maine. The guides are the result of an initiative involving Good Shepherd Food Bank, Hannaford, and Portland Adult Ed. The initiative included five focus groups with immigrants representing 13 countries.
