Dr. Abdifetah Ahmed has become the first Somali American appointed to the Maine Board of Pharmacy. He works in Gardiner. His accomplishment was celebrated in Lewiston at a party hosted by Maine Community Integration, a nonprofit he co-founded that helps newcomers to Maine with the integration process. Ahmed was born in Somalia but left at age 14 when civil war disrupted his life. He lived in a refugee camp in Kenya before being resettled to the U.S.
