View of the Androscoggin river in Maine

The Androscoggin River is expected to reach record levels by noon on Wednesday, 12/20 and flooding is anticipated. This can be dangerous to people. Those living on North River Road, Newbury Street, & Riverside Drive are encouraged by the City of Auburn to evacuate those areas.

A free overnight shelter has been established for Auburn and Lewiston residents at the Ramada Inn, 490 Pleasant Street. Take identification with you, and a crate for any pets. If you need transportation to the shelter, please call: 333.6670. For updates, visit: www.auburnmaine.gov.

Limit unnecessary travel within the city.

If you choose to remain in your home, you should monitor water levels on an ongoing basis as they may rise rapidly and unexpectedly, making it difficult or impossible for responders to reach you in an emergency.
