A Night of Unity and Leadership in Portland

This Monday evening, Portland City Hall Chambers welcomed a vibrant gathering of community members to witness the swearing-in of Honorable Pious Ali (At-Large) and Honorable Regina Phillips (District 3).

Among those present were long-time residents, immigrants, youth leaders, and advocates — all coming together to celebrate more than just a formal transition of leadership. It was a reaffirmation of Portland’s spirit of inclusion, representation, and shared belonging.

In a moment of reflection and hope, an Imam offered prayers emphasizing unity, inclusion, and justice, reminding everyone that leadership is a responsibility to every community.

Both Pious Ali and Regina Phillips expressed heartfelt gratitude to Portlanders for their trust and pledged to serve tirelessly, ensuring that every voice is heard, every community feels seen, and to make Portland the best city it can be.

A hopeful beginning — and a promising chapter for Portland.
