The Greater Portland Immigrant Welcome Center (IWC) announced new initiatives and celebrated achievements – including making it through the COVID-19 era – at a festive gathering on July 27. This year marks six years since the center’s opening. An ambitious program designed to help immigrant women launches this month, with funding secured with the help of U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree (D-Dist. 1). Other new programs include a zero interest mortgage initiative and a new Chai/Tea Hour.
